Who
are we?
We
are a group of cancer patients, carers, family members and
health care professionals, mainly from Greenwich and Bexley
boroughs, working together to improve local cancer services.
What
do we do?
We
draw on our personal experiences of cancer and cancer services
and use them to influence and change local cancer facilities,
such as outpatient waiting rooms and transport.
We
also have the opportunity to express our views on national
NHS issues, such as how cancer services should be developed
and delivered.
The
group was established in 2005 and has had a number of achievements
and success stories. For example, in conjunction with the
two other Cancer Voices groups in South East London, we
produced a DVD which is now used in the UK and in parts
of Europe to assist in the training of medical staff on
how to deliver a cancer diagnosis in a suitable manner and
in the correct environment.
Are we a support group?
No,
we are not a support group or a complaints forum.
If you are looking for a support group in the Greenwich
and Bexley boroughs see NHS
South East London Cancer Network
How
often do we meet and where?
We
meet every six weeks at the Bexley Civic Centre on a Saturday
morning between 10am and midday.
