with others and at the same time help raise much needed funding
for the Hospice.
You
are invited to visit the gardens listed – no appointment necessary.
Unless otherwise indicated, the entrance fee is £1
for adults and 50p for children, per garden or group of gardens.

Avery Hill, ELTHAM SE9
This
spacious garden offers a welcome opportunity to spend time in a
delightful 'green oasis' in the borough of Greenwich. Herbaceous
perennials and mature borders provide a backdrop to the colourful
accents of annual planting. From the side entrance a broad patio
leads to a generous lawn enhanced by various specimen trees and
ornamental shrubs. In addition to a variety of stalls, and ever-popular
refreshments, visitors may also enjoy musical entertainment provided
during the afternoon by members of the Crayford Manor House Choir.

Crown Woods Way , Avery Hill, ELTHAM SE9
This
large garden delights the eye and it is planned to attract wildlife.
A couple of shallow steps lead from the patio to the two main lawns.
Near the house is a big pond with an ornamental bird bath feature.
An inviting winding pathway curves to a paved seating area beneath
a graceful small tree. Several bird houses are positioned around
the garden, sheltered by mature trees, and wisteria scrambles along
a brick built pergola. Azaleas and camellia thrive in one bed and
surrounding the garden there is a wealth of interesting planting.
A small summerhouse and seats have been placed in different locations,
inviting you to linger, relax and enjoy nature's beauty.
Wheelchair
users may experience difficulty negotiating the steps, although
the garden may be enjoyed from the patio. Important: Parents are

71
Pelham Road , BEXLEYHEATH
Last
opened three years ago in aid of the Hospice, the owners have generously
agreed once again to offer their beautiful 220 ft x 50 ft garden
for our visitors to enjoy. They delight in collecting seeds from
many of their own plants for propagation, and have successfully
raised a surprisingly wide range of colourful and majestic delphiniums.
There is a large lawn, featuring an 'island-type' flowerbed,
surrounded by clipped shrubs and topiary. Beyond this are five different
fruit trees, a small vegetable plot and stately conifers. The welcoming
view from the patio is of a more intimate area of lawn, bounded
by a rockery and raised beds, graced by a shapely magnolia tree.

hedge.` Its contrasting position offers a restful spot to relax
and enjoy a welcoming cup of tea and homemade cake.

Tavistock Road ,
WELLING
The
immaculate spectacle which this garden achieves truly reflects the
reason for its impressive successes over many years entering the
London Garden Society competition. (Especially notable are the two
Gold Awards received in 2000.)
The
superior quality of the lawn enhances the vibrant, massed colours
of the bedding and containers and is certainly proof of the meticulous
care which the owners devote to every aspect of their garden. It
is a delight to include this in our programme once again, and it
is certainly a `must` for those who have not previously had the
experience of visiting the garden when it was opened in 2000 and
2003.
The
next-door neighbours at number 5 Tavistock Road
have kindly agreed to make their front garden accessible to visitors,
and an array of stalls will be here for your enjoyment.

arrangement of individual features ensure that many discoveries

/ smoking` water feature! Some old `Abbey ruins` have been built
around the garden and the owners were awarded 1 st Prize in 2004
and 2005 for the Best Back Garden in the ` Greenwich in Bloom` Competition.
