Palliative Care
What is Palliative Care?
Palliative Care is 'whole person' care for people with a life-limiting illness and their families.
Who provides Palliative Care?
Palliative care can be provided by various people at differing levels. Your primary care team (GP, District Nurse etc.) will provide your day-to-day care by:
- Assessing physical, psychological, social, spiritual and information needs.
- Where possible meeting those needs with their knowledge and skills.
- When appropriate, referring you to others for specialist advice and support.
Palliative care can be provided at various points within your illness and can be given in conjunction with other treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
