Counselling Service

   Anthony Boland

The Counselling Service is led by Anthony Boland, Head of Social, Psychological and Spiritual Care, (Direct Dial 020 8320 5811) and a team of 4 Family Worker Counsellors, 11 Volunteer Counsellors, a Benefits Co-ordinator and a Volunteer Administration Support Secretary.

It provides care and counselling for patients within the In-patient Unit and Shornells, as well as support for relatives, friends and carers on an on-going basis.   People can be supported either individually or as part of a group.  This is offered to family and friends for as long as is required after their bereavement.

The Benefits of One-to-One Counselling:

  •   It is often easier to talk to someone outside our own circle of family and friends.
  •   Sometimes it is helpful to look at why experiences in the past make us behave the way we do today.
  •   Often it helps not to have to go through things on your own but to be able to share memories, good or bad,  with someone who is able to listen.

We offer a free, professional Counselling Service.  The Counselling Department also has a range of different types of group work:
