Woodlands In-patient Unit

Woodlands
has the capacity to care for up to 19 patients. They are two
four bedded rooms named after our Co-founders, Patricia and Donald,
along with 11 single rooms with en suite facilities. Each
patient has their own wardrobe, bedside cabinet, vanity unit, television
and telephone to receive incoming calls. There is also a payphone
available for patients and visitors who wish to make outgoing calls.
Staffing
The
unit is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team comprising of Doctors,
Nurse and Health Care Assistants, Counsellors, a visiting Pharmacist
and Physiotherapist
On admission,
we make every attempt for the Doctor and Nurse to undertake a joint
patient assessment to identify fully the patients needs and requirements.

Hours
Family
and friends are welcome to visit at any time during the day or night.
If early in the morning or very late in the evening, please discuss
this with the Nurse in Charge. Children are welcome, but need to
be supervised.

8.30 am - Cereals, toast, cooked breakfast

1 pm - Two choices are offered daily

3.30 pm

5.30 pm - A light snack with choices available
Our Chef
is happy to accommodate patient's nutritional requirements and will
speak with you on a daily basis to discuss your needs.
Alcoholic
beverages are available on request. In the Reception area,
snacks and drinks can be purchased.

Visitors
Family Room
Includes
a television and video, computer facilities, books and children's
toys as well as facilities for making hot drinks. Please ensure
that children are not left unsupervised at any time.

Meal Service
For a
nominal charge, Chef is happy to prepare food for visitors.
Please see the menu and pay at Reception. Last orders by 5.30pm
please.
Hairdresser
Our hairdresser
will be happy to style patients hair in our salon or in the ward.
There is a nominal fee for this service.
Laundry
In an
emergency we have facilities to launder patients' clothes.
We also have spare night wear if required. Unfortunately,
we cannot take responsibility for any loss or damage that may occur.
Valuables
Please avoid
bringing valuables, credit cards or large amounts of money into
the Hospice as we cannot guarantee their safety.
Smoking
We support
a no smoking policy. However, we do recognize that for some
patients, smoking is an important part of their day and helps them
relax. We therefore provide a Smoking Room, but this is for
patients only.
