Stepping Stones
Stepping Stones is a drop in service for anyone with a life limiting illness or for those who care for them.
THE DILEMMA .... how to support carers of people who have a life-limiting illness when they feel that they cannot leave that person. |
|
OUR SOLUTION .... provide a service that supports the carer and the person who is ill at the same time in the same place and in a way that meets their individual needs. |
Stepping Stones is an informal drop-in service for people to share experiences, make new friends and - in many circumstances - help come to terms with the events which have changed their lives…..
We provide a safe supportive environment for those experiencing life-limiting illnesses, their partners, family, carers, friends and those bereaved.
We set up the service several years ago and it has gone from strength to strength. We meet on the first and third Fridays of every month and our team of committed volunteers and Hospice staff are always on hand to make sure that everyone gets a warm welcome.
Stepping Stones aims to be self-financing. We raise funds with occasional bring-and-buy sales and raffles.
If you are suffering from or caring for someone with a life-limiting illness, we do not stipulate a time-frame. We recognise the uncertainty that accompanies this kind of illness and our service aims to journey with you in a way that supports your unfolding story.
If you are bereaved, we recognise that the service must be a stepping stone back into life again. Accordingly we aim to support you in this by offering the service for as long as it is helpful. We recognise this as having a time limit but this may be different for each individual
You will have access to both individual and group counselling from our counselling service: and although Stepping Stones is not a bereavement service it will provide additional support for you as you endeavour to embrace the future.
