Volunteers

Every year the Hospice offers care and support through a wide range of services to people with a life limiting illness - that might be a member of your family.

We need almost £6 million per year to run these essential services, and your volunteering support is as valuable to us as your donations of money.

We are worth your time and effort.  We offer you the opportunity to become involved with us so that we can utilise your talents and skills. You will feel that you are making a real contribution.

In recognition of the dedicated support that volunteers offer to enhance Hospice services, the Hospice ensures that volunteers are kept informed through:

  • 2 annual 'Volunteer Appreciation' events - one around Christmas time and one in the summer linked to National Volunteers' Week.
  • Presentation of long-service badges at 5, 10, 15 and 20 years' commitment.
  • A quarterly volunteers' forum for mutual support and to discuss any issues, training needs and ideas for improving services.
  • Invitation to the Hospice Annual General Meeting and updates on other Hospice events and developments.
  • A quarterly volunteers' bulletin called "The Hospice Hailer" - Click on the button below to view current issue.
