Counselling Services - Wednesday Group

The Wednesday Group is for people in their 20's, 30's, 40's and early 50's (up to 55) who have a life limiting illness like:

  • Cancer
  • MS
  • MHD
  • HIV/AIDS

And who would value the friendship and support of a group of people in similar circumstances.

Where and When?

  • The group meet every Wednesday throughout the year
  • In the Shornells Lounge or the conservatory situated on the lower ground floor of the Hospice
  • From 12 noon to 3pm

So what do we do at the Group?

  • We start with a buffet lunch at 12 noon.
  • At 1pm we apply the unwritten 'rule' that when one person is speaking the rest of us will listen.  This is so that we can all hear what someone is wishing to say.
  • We sometimes have other input in the group - visits from a potter, the artist in residence at the Hospice and someone who has knowledge of benefits and allowances.
  • Occasionally, we will ask the Hospice Doctor to come and answer questions.

But mostly we spend time together for ...

  • Support
  • Exchange of ideas and information
  • Laughter
  • Honesty
  • Friendship and Acceptance
  • And you will certainly be made welcome
